Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
We have an opportunity for a highly experienced Water Designer Drafter to join our award-winning team, specialising in the design and construction of water infrastructure projects. You will lead the design of water and wastewater treatment projects, including plant upgrades and new plant designs such as the Prospect Pre-Treatment Plant and the Yarra Park Water Recycling Facility.
Awareness of Australian water industry design and drafting approaches and standards is essential, as is the ability to coordinate designs across projects effectively. While a high volume of drafting isn't required, you will play a key role in detailed design work and project execution, working closely with multidisciplinary teams both locally and internationally.
You will have a proven track record in design, preferably with complex bespoke projects that have a positive impact on the world.
**The Opportunity**
- Lead the design of water treatment and wastewater treatment related projects such as plant upgrade works and new plant designs utilising primarily Plant 3D, knowledge of other software packages desirable.
- Be responsible for coordinating design across projects, including coordination with other designers and drafters
- Create 3-D models, often including the use of 3D point clouds or utilising existing information, and work with colleagues and other organisations to optimise design and incorporate potential improvements.
- Be at the cutting edge of the water industry, pushing for better outcomes on impactful projects as part of an award winning team.
- Deliver impact across Australia and the globe, and collaborate with experts in water, in design, in foresight, and in innovation.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective - in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.
You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning - to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
**Is this role right for you?**
- Recognised relevant tertiary qualification or certificate in engineering or design or similar area;
- Relevant experience working as a designer - drafter within a consulting business environment, preferably in the water industry or comparable industry;
- Proficiency in Plant 3D, Navisworks and BIM360. Understanding of other packages such as Revit, AutoCAD and Civil 3D beneficial.
- Relevant experience in working to the requirements of Australian water authorities beneficial.
