Job Description Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Supervisor, to join Service Stream in our Utilities & Infrastructure, based in Port Melbourne.
About the Role
The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for managing and directing a team of mechanical tradespeople on site and supporting the business in the delivery of the complete project scope of work in a manner that is safe, on-time, on-budget and to the agreed standard of quality and client satisfaction. The teams which the Mechanical Supervisor manages may be working on single sites or across multiple sites depending on the number and scale of each project.
Nature of position: Casual ( with Permanent Opportunities )
Location: Port Melbourne, VIC
Reporting Line: Project Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Supervision of mechanical trades at site
- Oversee and facilitate continuous improvement in workforce skills development, quality of completed work, and demonstration of a leading safety culture.
- Actively manage and comply with all Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements as outlined in the policies and management systems.
- Effectively manage employee relations.
- Maintain effective Client relations.
- Assist to maximize the return on a project by meeting or exceeding bottom line performance
- Issue process improvement techniques to site staff
- Responsible for operational performance of the site as measured by key performance indicators.
- Ensuring all activities undertaken, comply with applicable legal and statutory requirements.
- Assistance with project tendering
- Budget compliance and the implementation of cost reduction initiatives.
- Control Project and Sub-contractor costs and assist with delivering required project margins and outcomes.
- Optimising the contract as measured by the receipt of full claims entitlements under the contract and payment on time within the terms of trade.
- Ensure all Variations are Captured & Estimated Correctly
About You
- Demonstrated experience in managing and maintaining client relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to lead personnel to achieve company objectives.
- Demonstrated commitment to OHSE
- Demonstrated experience in working with people at all levels in a multidisciplinary environment
- Ability to identify and mitigate project/task risks.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and report writing skills.
- General understanding of the HS&E Policies.
- Strong Leadership Skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills, problem solving skills and the initiative to work with a team environment.
- High level of confidentiality and ability to always practice diplomacy and sensitivity.
- Interest and ability to develop personal skills.
- Takes initiative and is self-motivated, A self-starter with the ability to work independently whilst understanding the importance for the development of a unified team.
- Ability to set priorities and manage variable workloads
- Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Knowledge of business systems and the ability to learn new systems and reports.
- Ability to understand and comply with relevant OHS, Environmental and quality legislation and procedures
Qualifications Required
- Experience working in petrochemical background supervising multi discipline workgroups.
- Construction industry induction card ‘white card’
- First Aid Certificate (Level II)
