**The Opportunity**:
CatholicCare is seeking a Local Support Services (LSS) Intake Worker to be the first point of contact for referrals for male victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
In this role, you will take a person-centred approach to build trust and engagement, make initial contact within required timeframes, gather essential information, and provide individuals with details about the program. You will also triage and allocate referrals to LSS Caseworkers for further support, ensuring services are tailored to each individual’s needs and level of risk.
This temporary part-time position (30 hours per week, based in Mayfield) offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those affected by domestic and family violence (DFV) while working within a collaborative and supportive team. This role will be contracted until 30 June 2025 with possibility of extension.
**Description**:
Position Description
Local Support Services (LSS), as part of the Safer Pathway Program aims to provide support to male victim-survivors of domestic and family violence (DFV). The LSS program will work with relevant government and non-government agencies to identify people experiencing DFV and to offer them support to increase their safety. The program works to offer victim-survivors tailored, coordinated services based on their needs and the level of threat to their safety.
LSS Intake Worker is responsible for responding to all referrals, utilizing a person—centred approach to build trust and engagement in the program. LSS Intake Worker will be the first contact for referrals coming through, mainly from NSW Police. LSS Intake Worker will make initial contact in required timeframes and will gather information and inform individual of the program. LSS Intake Worker will use information gathered to triage and allocate to LSS Caseworker for further support.
**Skills and Experiences**:
EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA
- A commitment to work within the Mission, Vision and Values of CatholicCare.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of the cycle of domestic and family violence and the issues of power and control that underpin that cycle.
- The ability to work as part of a team and independently in triaging and allocating individuals in accordance with program guidelines.
- A working knowledge of the legislation, policies, and standards relevant to child protection, and child safe organisations.
- Experience working with, or a demonstrated knowledge of cultural competence principles, relevant to engaging clients from diverse backgrounds, including First Nation people and those from a CALD background.
- Ability to maintain timely, accurate and relevant client records for reporting and information sharing.
- Contribute to continuous learning and relationships through the co-ordination of meetings and other information sharing activities.
- Experience in the provision of social services is desirable however applicants must be willing to complete formal training and obtain role specific training if required.
- Ability to demonstrate and work within the key accountabilities and inherent requirement of this position detailed in Section 12.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Tertiary qualifications, (or working toward a qualification) in a Social Work, Social Science, Welfare, or related discipline with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Training/experience in Domestic and Family Violence (Desirable)
- Training/experience in Coercive Control legislation (Desirable)
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014.
- Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
