Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and creating safer communities? The Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support is seeking a highly motivated Principal Program Officer (AO7) to join our Commissioning and Investment team.
In this role, you will lead the design, administration, and monitoring of key grant programs, including the Kickstarter Grants, a Queensland Government initiative focused on supporting young people at risk of entering the youth justice system. You will drive early intervention outcomes, strengthen community partnerships, and contribute to system reform efforts.
**You will be responsible for**:
Leading a small, high-performing team with a culture of collaboration, ethical practice, and continuous improvement.
Managing grant governance, financial and contract oversight, and ensuring compliance with reporting and risk standards.
Providing culturally informed and responsive engagement across Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Offering high-level advice to internal and external stakeholders to inform policy and program decisions.
Preparing strategic written materials, including briefing notes, correspondence, and evaluation reports.
This position requires a professional who demonstrates leadership, strong communication skills, cultural capability, and a commitment to working collaboratively across diverse sectors. You will also be accountable for driving innovation and continuous improvement across funded programs, helping shape future directions for Youth Justice investment.
