**About the role**

Our Legal, Risk & Governance team is currently on the hunt for to join the team to support the business through functional support on a wide range of Risk, Legal and Governance processes and practices.

The Legal, Risk & Governance team contributes to the Club’s entire operations and governance including football operations, membership, commercial and community activities, and our venues (Windy Hill and Melton Country Club) through the provision of legal advice and services, managing the Club’s risk management and insurance programs, overseeing the Club’s legal, contract and governance frameworks and performing the company secretarial function of the Club.

**Reporting directly to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, you will be specifically responsible for**:

- Managing the Club’s risk systems, ensuring key risks are identified and reported upon across the business, key controls maintained and mitigation actions are implemented.
- Maintaining the Club’s risk register and supporting individual business units to appropriately assess and document key risks, controls and actions.
- Providing effective and efficient internal legal services, to support the efficient operation and growth of the EFC business (and management of legal risk).
- Reviewing, preparing, amending and advising on day-to-day business contracts and terms and conditions.
- Advising on ad-hoc legal issues and special projects.
- Managing compliance with AFL Risk and Compliance Program requirements
- Providing secretariat support to the Audit, Risk & Integrity Committee.
- Managing insurance requirements and processes as a primary contact with insurance brokers, administering insurance notifications and claims, and coordinating the preparation of the annual insurance renewal in conjunction with the Finance team.
- Identifying material compliance risks through reviewing relevant legislation and other regulatory requirements, AFL rules, regulations and policies and key contracts.
- Assisting the General Counsel with regulatory requirements and issues.

**About you**
- You’re an experienced Legal professional ideally with risk management experience who thrives on providing strategic and operational advice and support to your colleagues at every level of the organisation.
- You enjoy staying up to date with the relevant regulatory landscape and legislation and ensuring that systems, policies and processes are updated in response.
- You’re an energetic people-person who is pragmatic and passionate about adding value that drives high performance and quality outcomes.
