**The Role**

The Manager, Policy is responsible for leading key policies and projects aimed at improving Victoria's productivity and competitiveness, supporting the growth of industries and regions, stimulating the creation of jobs and improving participation in the economy for all Victorians.

The responsibilities of the Manager, Policy will include:

- Providing authoritative, strategic and practical advice to senior departmental colleagues on ways to enhance Victoria's economic performance; harness new employment, innovation, investment and trade opportunities; and support industry transition in areas such as energy and construction.
- Leading, managing and contributing to the development of policy frameworks, reform opportunities, strategic projects and major analyses of key economic issues facing Victoria, including by distilling and integrating information and multiple perspectives from various stakeholder groups.
- Negotiating and strategically influencing key internal and external stakeholders to shape policy thinking, achieve agreement on key objectives and facilitate collaborative solutions.

**The Team**

The position of Manager, Policy forms a part of the Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment group.

The Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI) group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. ITI champions Victoria as a destination of choice for trade and international investment, international education and innovation. The Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent (IDCMT) Branch is responsible for shaping and ensuring the delivery of the Victorian Government's industry development agenda.

**About You**
- **Policy skills, analysis and problem solving**: Formulates and communicates public policy options and recommendations; Keeps up-to-date with a broad range of contemporary issues; Scans for links and potential implications of proposed policy options.
- **Economic insight**: Demonstrated understanding of the Victorian economy and economic policy issues at a state, national and international level, and the ability to explain (where applicable) how these matter to Victoria and to the Victorian Government.
- **Project management**: Prepares work plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps and timelines for achieving them are specified; Monitors performance against objectives and manages risks and issues; Ensures work objectives are met in a timely manner.
