Kelsian Group Limited is seeking an experienced National Workers Compensation Manager to provide leadership and guidance to deliver on business objectives to reduce workers compensation liabilities and manage reputation risk. This role will represent Kelsian Group to ensure a positive perception of the business as a proactive employer commitment to safety and prevention of injuries.

**About the Role - What will you do?**

As the National Workers Compensation Manager, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and assistance to the business and the broader team on all aspects of workers compensation, claims management, injury management and return to work within the legislation and within a self-insurance environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Manage all aspects of workers compensation to achieve compliance with internal processes in line with both State based and National legislation.
- Proactively manage rehabilitation providers and approval of rehabilitation plans/wellness plans in accordance with self-insurance guidelines.
- Manage the level of risk and promote safe work practices.
- Manage and coordinate injury management by providing professional advice to relevant managers and business operations-based Return to Work Coordinators and HSE Coordinators/Managers.
- Ensure that workers compensation decisions for claims and RTW cases are administered in a cost effective, efficient, and equitable manner in accordance with the SRC Act.
- Provide leadership and guidance to management towards a culture of achievement of outstanding performance of claims-based processes.
- Provide advice and assistance to staff members in relation to claims and RTW issues to facilitate outcomes.
- Provide injury management and claims advice to facilitate case outcomes.
- Liaise with insurers in different states across Australia to ensure the most effective and proactive management of claims.
- Be familiar with all relevant workers compensation legal frameworks in all states and territories across Australia.
- Undertake comprehensive investigations into workplace injuries to identify root causes of such injuries and prevent future workplace injuries.
- In conjunction with WHS leaders and management, analyse trends and develop and manage an effective injury prevention system.
- Initiate effective communication of Claims and RTW/rehabilitation related projects to management.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness, injury and incident prevention.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures that relate to National claims and RTW Management in accordance with the SRC Act.
- Continually improve education and awareness.
- Provide advice to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and other business leaders to ensure compliance with all relevant statutory obligations.

**Ab**out You - Who do we want to apply?**

The successful applicant must possess the following characteristics and experience:

- Outstanding knowledge in the fields of injury management and workers compensation.
- Management of a National Workers Compensation portfolio.
- Comprehensive understanding of Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act (SRC Act) and legislation and State based legislation and processes as it pertains to Claims and RTW in the overall management of workers’ compensation.
- Experience with managing compensation litigation through the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).
- Work Health and Safety/Occupational Health Specialist or other relevant tertiary qualification (essential)
- Strong working knowledge of WHS and Workers Compensation legislation across Australia
- Experience in the management of Claims and RTW processes.
- Experience in the day-to-day management of injured workers.
- An empathetic, resilient, and motivational approach to provide customer centric support

- Ability to effectively communicate with management about Claims and RTW, both verbally and written.
- Ability to conduct internal investigations.
- Ability to drive outcomes regarding Claims and RTW.
- Ability to manage specific projects from inception to conclusion.
- Must be focused on continual improvement.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office.
