**About the role**
In this strategic hands-on role, you will form part of the Employee Communications and Engagement team, playing a vital role in supporting the organisation to create an engaged and informed workforce that champions our work and culture. You will provide professional communications, guidance and support on the development and implementation of the City’s Employee Communications and Engagement Strategy, with the objective of adding value to the business through the implementation of departmental business plan objectives.

This is a full-time, 6-month opportunity.
- Plan, manage and implement discrete communications strategies to support and internally promote the City’s organisational goals, workplace culture priorities, and/ or major projects.
- Partner with key Directorate stakeholders to provide specialist advice and guidance on the development of effective employee communications.
- Assess, manage and ensure relevance and quality control over existing employee communication channels to ensure adherence to branding protocols and consistency of message, and report on the outcomes of employee communications and engagement activities.
- Identify and implement any new or emerging opportunities to improve employee communications.
- Work closely with and advise senior leadership and staff from any other areas, on best-practice employee communication planning, tools and methods

**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced communications specialist, with a flair for creativity and a continuous improvement mindset. You will have the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and adapt your approach to suit the desire audience.
- Knowledge and experience in advising and managing a broad range of Communication and Engagement plans and strategies.
- High level skills in assessing and evaluating the employee communications needs and options for a large modern workforce.
- Working knowledge in a range of contemporary communication media, including social media, digital photography and video, and web content authoring.
- Ability to problem solve and to use persuasion and conflict management skills to achieve resolutions.
- Identification of stakeholder and customer needs and expectations, determining appropriate action and responding accordingly.
- Experience supporting and managing events highly regarded.
- Degree qualification in Journalism, Communications, Media, Professional Writing and Editing, Marketing or a related field with several years of relevant experience working in a similar position.
