**The Hospital**:
This is Australia's second oldest hospital opening in 1804, and is a major clinical teaching and research centre working closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. The hospital provides acute, sub acute, mental health and aged care inpatient and ambulatory services to a population of about 240,000 people and has 550 physical beds, including 460 acute overnight and 90 day beds.

**The Role**:
You will work within a multidisciplinary team environment, contributing to the provision of high standard clinical services to patients of the Health Service. As the General Medicine Registrar you will be responsible for managing the care of patients in consultation with the Consultants, Nurses and Allied Health professionals. In this key role, you will be actively involved in continuous Quality Improvement activities, as well as participate in continuing education activities. This position is fully accredited for both basic and advanced training.

Medical registrar positions provide opportunities for those seeking accredited Basic Physician Training.

BPT level registrar positions can also provide medical training opportunities for suitable applicants from non-BPT pathways including those with backgrounds in Critical Care or with a longer-term interest in Community Primary Care.

Presently the Department of General Medicine has 16 Staff Specialists, mostly in part-time roles. Each unit has two Basic Training Registrars and two Junior Medical Officers (Intern or RMO), and 2-3 consultants.

**The Requirements**:

- General or limited registration with AHPRA
- And have least 12 months recent experience working within General Medicine
