**How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne**

The Team Leader - Assets (Buildings) is responsible to lead, plan, organise and deliver high quality project outcomes on time, to budget and within the scope and to the quality established within project briefs. The role is accountable for the development and delivery of assigned projects, predominantly of a more complex nature, associated with the Capital Works Program, including technical due diligence, feasibility planning and development, negotiation with stakeholders and authorities, community engagement, construction and handover. The role needs to effectively influence and negotiate with senior level stakeholders (internal/external) and effectively manage high level risk to deliver assigned projects up to annual total project cost of between $70m to $90m.

Responsibilities are across the full project development lifecycle from concept through to delivery including project scope and specifications, procurement/tendering, managing consultants, contractors and stakeholders (internal/external) to achieve the successful delivery of key milestones.

The Team Leader and their team will focus on project delivery through effective contract management and administration of capital works assets, within the framework of project governance, project vision, objectives, parameters and processes put in place to facilitate an effective, transparent framework for delivery of excellent design outcomes in the public realm.

This is a senior level role that forms part of the broader leadership group within the Capital Works team, and requires effective collaboration with the Design Team and the City Design Studio management. A critical aspect of the position is people leadership - leading and mentoring a team of project managers, driving high performance and excellence to deliver the Capital Works program.

**What you will bring**
- Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values - accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
- A relevant tertiary qualification to degree level in project management and/or related field such as building, engineering or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in project management delivery including development and management of high value, complex projects in a large and diverse organization with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in contract administration, achieving high quality built outcomes.
- Proven ability to concurrently manage multiple projects on time, to budget and to client satisfaction within a structured reporting framework.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, with an ability to coach others in project management methodologies.
- A demonstrated understanding of standard forms of construction contracts and building industry practices.
- Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate a team, including external consultants and contractors ensuring high level performance and taking decisive corrective action when necessary.
- Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills with the ability to deal with a diverse range of stakeholders with a broad range of expectations and client needs which are often of a competing nature.
- Highly developed analytical, lateral thinking and problem solving skills and the ability to take the initiative, drive change and continual improvement.
- High level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey and effectively impart project information and negotiate and influence outcomes.
- Ability to work within a high pressure environment and effectively managing multiple priorities within a complex environment.
