We are currently seeking a WHSEQ Officer to join our team, based in Tomago. This busy role will see the successful applicant providing operational assistance to the NSW HSEQ Manager to advance safety within the business.

**Key responsibilities for this position include**:
Undertake regular workplace visits to complete task observations, check WHSE compliance and provide guidance and direction to Colas employees as required
Provide support, guidance and technical advice relating to WHSEQ to line management and the site-based teams
Assist with the maintenance of the WHSEQ Management System through facilitation of hazard and risk control strategies, consultation, and monitoring program effectiveness through specialised audit programs
Working with operations to develop an understanding of WHSE regulatory requirements and implement processes that ensure compliance
Take an active role in assisting operations in maintaining and promoting a safety culture
Ensure hazards are appropriately assessed and controlled (with a particular focus on JSEA, SWMS, Plant Risk Assessments)
Review safe systems of work including operating and maintenance procedures
Assist in leading and participate in incident investigations and make recommendations on findings
Assist in leading and participate in internal and external audits, including safety and environmental certifications
Provide point of contact as the Injury Management Coordinator and actively manage the Workers Compensation and RTW program
Provide support services including toolbox safety training, team-based risk facilitation and incident investigation support
Assist in developing and reviewing WHSEQ policies, procedures, and forms
Collate and prepare WHSEQ reports, statistics and maintain WHSEQ system registers and records
Monitor and follow-up on corrective actions from audits, WHSEQ and incidents
Support the HSEQ Manager and other operational managers in the preparation and ongoing maintenance of the certification to ISO45001, ISO14001, and ISO9001
Assist in organisation and co-ordination of WHSEQ training including maintaining training records
Other duties as required by management

Tertiary qualifications in WHS
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
Intermediate MS Office skills
Demonstrated experience in auditing/ leading and facilitation investigations
Demonstrated experience or exposure to statutory legislation including workers compensation and RTW
Effective organisational and time management skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of the operations
Previous experience in the civil construction industry - highly regarded
Ability to travel as required
