**About the position**

Commencing in January 2025, for a period of **two years**, we are looking for a **Cadet Environmental Planning Officer**to join our organisation.

This is an Identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination ACT 1977.

The position is full time employment for two (2) years for undergraduates currently studying a degree qualification in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Geography or similar; and entering their final year of studies in 2025, with the ability to study part-time.

This entry level position provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in Council's Environmental and Planning Services Team.

**About you**
- This is an Identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination ACT 1977.
- Currently studying a Bachelor of Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Geography or similar and entering final year of studies in 2025, with the ability to study part-time.
- Current Drivers Licence (minimum NSW Provisional P1 Licence or equivalent).
- Australian permanent residency.
- Proven organisational skills to manage workloads to meet competing deadlines.
- Proven research and report writing skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service with a flexible attitude and ability to use initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and contribute to group outcomes.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and not afraid to speak in public.
- Demonstrated key capabilities as defined in the Key Capabilities Table (outlined in the Position Description).

- Temporary full time employment for 2 years, working 35 hours per week.
