Reporting to the Chief Executive this position is responsible for
- providing quality, compassionate pastoral care to our residents and their families
- coordinating services for spiritual care
- providing support to staff

Ashfield Baptist Homes is a 136 bed, not-for-profit residential aged care home in Ashfield, Sydney. We welcome residents and staff from all faiths and cultures. Our care home is owned by Ashfield Baptist Church, and we have a rich local history spanning more than seventy years. Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Be available to listen to residents and their families who have a need to talk about personal issues and circumstances
- Provide pastoral care, information and support to residents empowering them to explore future goals, grow and confront personal challenges
- Support ABH staff in interactions with residents and engage with residents with whom ABH and other services have difficulty connecting
- Connect and build relationships with local churches, Christian organisations and other groups to promote opportunities to offer support for ABH residents and promote the services of local churches and other groups on request
- Participate in local church and community events, activities and celebrations and contribute to church and community group communications
- Complete a range of other administrative duties for the efficient running of the service including statistics, reports, referral letters, goals plans etc.
You are a compassionate individual who has:
- Formal qualifications in chaplaincy/pastoral care (or working towards)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience providing pastoral care
- Pastoral care experience within an Aged Care/Community setting (highly regarded)
- Ability to demonstrate our values of Excellence, Respect, Compassion, Integrity & Stewardship
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and listening skills
- Current driving license
- Valid police check
