**About the role**:
We have a role available for a Head Of Garment Technician to join our orgnaisation Reporting to the Head of Own Label, your responsibilities will include ensuring our design intention for each product is translated through the fit and construction of each style, and that our garments are accurate and consistent, across a variety of activewear and fashion product types.
**Your key responsibilities will include**:
- Working with designers to interpret, sketches and reference samples to select blocks and create measurement specs.
- Advising designers on garment construction and fabric consumption.
- Problem solving construction solutions with factories.
- Deciding what sampling is required for each style.
- Manage all sampling with suppliers to seasonal timelines.
- Running a team critical path meeting each week.
- Measuring and checking all samples against measurement specs
- Run garment fittings and managing all alterations/changes to styles.
- Manage fit model costs, casting models, and the relationship with fit modeling agencies.
- Approving/rejecting samples and communicating comments to suppliers
- Ownership of Pre-Production sample approval, and pre-shipment sample approval.
- Supporting QA manager on ship sample inspection and instore quality spot checks.
- Maintaining the “to fit” body size to endure consistency.
- Ownership of grade rules by product and fabric type.
- Ownership of tolerances, setting standards with suppliers by measurement type.
- Maintaining measurement standards internally and with suppliers.
- Care label management - ensuring content is accurate and compliant.
- Reviewing new product launches once in market, consolidating customers feedback and running size set fittings, to ensure new ranges are consistent and fits are always evolving.
- Research into standards with the Head of Own Label when investigating and category extensions.
**To succeed in this role, you will need to have**:
- Tertiary qualification in fashion design or têxtiles
- 5+ years experience within fashion wholesale or retail
- A technical understanding of fabrication, garment construction and manufacturing process
- Enthusiasm and a general passion for fashion and the retail environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal to team members at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills to meet sampling and production timelines.
- Initiative to recognize or identify potential problems and resolution skills to implement solutions accordingly.
