**About our Opportunity**
Following a recent M&S transaction, our Australian Unity Life & Super business is on a growth trajectory and requires additional actuarial support hence this is a newly created position.
This role sits within a team of 4 actuaries and will be assisting with the integration of the new business into AU, working in partnership with Fund Accounting, Finance, Product, Commercial and Operational teams. In addition to the core responsibilities to the role, this person will also be a key participant in a key project for the actuarial team for the implementation of the new accounting standard AASB17 “Insurance Contracts”.
**What you will do**
- Management of accurate data collation and verification for quarterly APRA returns,
- Regulatory and target capital calculations accurately performed within agreed timeframes.
- Effective assistance provided to key stakeholders, enabling delivery of quarterly and annual APRA returns and effective resolution of all reporting queries.
- Quarterly and annual ICAAP update for the Board and Investment Committee.
- Provide advice and recommendations to senior management regarding monthly and quarterly bonus declarations and the capital management of benefit funds.
- Provide support for projects as required
- Undertake ad-hoc analysis to support the wider Wealth & Capital Markets teams
- Proactive contribution to the methodology for managing changing risks to the business, stress testing and scenario analysis of the potential impacts of the emerging risks to the business and identification of enhancements required to capital and risk monitoring tools.
- Effective assistance provided to the Portfolio Management team in managing asset and liability risks.
- Bonus rate recommendations on monthly and quarterly income bonds to senior management for declaration
- Investigations carried out independently, and efficiently within agreed timelines, with findings communicated in a clear and concise manner.
**What we are looking for**
- Demonstrated experience in the life insurance, capital management and/or broader financial services sectors.
- Solid technical skills including EXCEL and VBA
- Knowledge of the funds management industry desirable (either via direct experience or consulting to Funds Management client)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Tertiary qualifications within one or more of the following disciplines: Financial Analysis, Actuarial Studies, Economics, Information Systems and Business
