- Why this role matters

The Support and Safety Hubs (The Orange Door) have been created as a recommendation from The Royal Commission into Family Violence and Roadmap for Reform. They have been designed to ensure that women and children are safe from harm and families can easily access the supports they need.

The Hubs incorporates Family Violence and Child Wellbeing services and provide services for women, children, young people and older people experiencing family violence, and families in need of support with the care, wellbeing and development of children and young people. The Hub will also plan interventions for perpetrators that hold them to account, address the risk they pose and challenge their violence and abusive behaviour.

As a Support and Safety Hub Practitioner you will be responsible for the delivery of Men’s Perpetrator Services of the Support and Safety Hub.

This is a fixed-term part-time position, 30.4 hours per week, located in Morwell.

The role you could play
- Provide timely and active telephone response to men referred for using violence and controlling behaviour against women and children
- Referral to Men’s Behaviour Change programs and other men’s services, or community services as required
- Provide intake services for women and children escaping family violence
- Undertake a risk assessment of presenting issues for women and children experiencing family violence and develop safety plans
- Work collaboratively as part of an integrated practice approach working closely with Family Violence services [including Victoria Police], Child Wellbeing and Family Services agencies, the Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, Senior Child Protection Practitioner, Community Based Child Protection
- Develop and maintain networks with other agencies to enable clients to have access to all community resources

What you will bring- Relevant tertiary qualification that is at a Bachelor degree or higher level (Australian Qualifications Framework Level 7 or above) or meets the eligibility requirements for applicants without a Bachelor of Social work or equivalent- Relevant experience in a social service environment- Working with Children Check- A current Victorian Drivers License is required- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
