Apprentice Greenkeeper

Park Proxi Hotel Bowral is looking for a **Apprentice Greenskeeper **to manage the upkeep and maintenance of our 18-hole golf course.

**Job Summary**: As an Apprentice Greenskeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the golf course greens, tees, fairways, and surrounding areas to ensure optimal playing conditions and aesthetics. Your primary focus will be on turf management, irrigation, and landscaping tasks to create a visually appealing and well-maintained golf course environment.

**Key Responsibilities in working under the Head Greenskeeper**

**Turf Management**:

- Mow, edge, and maintain the golf course greens, tees, fairways, and rough areas.
- Monitor and adjust soil moisture levels to ensure proper turf health.
- Implement fertilization and pest control programs as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent.

**Irrigation**:

- Operate and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of the golf course.
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust irrigation schedules accordingly.
- Perform routine maintenance on irrigation equipment to ensure efficient operation.

**Landscaping**:

- Plant, prune, and maintain trees, shrubs, and flowers around the golf course.
- Implement landscaping projects to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the golf course.
- Weed control and maintenance of flower beds and ornamental areas.

**Equipment Operation and Maintenance**:

- Operate and maintain various grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and aerators.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the Golf Course Superintendent.

**Assist with Course Projects**:

- Collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent and other team members on course improvement projects.
- Participate in the construction and renovation of golf course features.

**Compliance and Safety**:

- Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations while performing job duties.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements related to golf course maintenance.

**Qualifications**:

- Keen interest in turf management and horticulture
- Previous experience operating ground maintenance machinery
- Understanding of OH&S and environmental requirements of a golf course
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality course conditions.
- A current Australian driver's licence

**Working Conditions**: The Apprentice Greenskeeper position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, and precipitation. The role may require early morning or evening hours to avoid peak playing times.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- Rotating roster
- Shift work
- Weekend availability
