As part of our high-performing and passionate team, we have an exciting opportunity for a Merchandise Planner (Retail Buyer) to play a pivotal role in maximizing business profits through effective inventory management across our varied portfolios.
This full-time role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the wider Buying team. You will analyze data, forecast future sales based on stock accuracy, and enable brand growth through strategic planning. The position is based in our Stafford Heights office.
**Responsibilities**
- Works closely with the President/CEO to maximize profit and regularly assess impact to the forward planning framework based on current market and key fashion trend direction
- Respond to sales and external market activity to maximise sale opportunities and minimise potential risks
- Maximize profit and minimize risk through stock management and realistic sales and profit forecasts with regular review and appropriate action.
- Incorporate space planning and relevant departmental store budget proposals into the planning process to meet store requirements
- Construct a well-balanced range framework which offers the right mix of category to match the customer/demographic fashion requirements, based on history and current performance
- Consistently liaise with supply chain and production, monitoring commitment and intake, controlling stock flow based on realistic forward projections at the required level for the department
- Strives for continuous improvement in category department
- Trend knowledge, forecasting and commercial acumen
- Responsible for the Open-To-Buy budget, assortment plan, stocks to sales ratio (stock level), and development of the assigned brand/s ensuring attainment of the set business sales targets.
- Managing in season inventory by identifying performing and non-performing styles
- Work with external suppliers, building and strengthening relationships
- Develop new product and category offerings
- Participate in development of new line releases
- Work closely with other areas of the business (Production, Design, Marketing, Ecommerce, Distribution/Warehouse) and various other stakeholders to support business objectives
With a strong understanding of all critical path elements and their impact on delivery, your
proven track record of effective stock management, is evident within your experience.
- Strong financial and commercial business acumen
- Knowledge of competitors with the ability to form educated opinions to effect commercial
decisions
- Ability to manage key relationships effectively to deliver the business strategy
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team
- Effective negotiation and influencing skills
- Effective numerical, critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to coach and develop a team
- Tertiary education in a creative field - fashion, design, graphics or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail & accuracy
- Ability to handle high volume workload & meet tight deadlines
- Outstanding time management & problem-solving skills
- At least 2 years of experience as a retail buyer or relevant position.
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
