**About the State Library**
The State Library of New South Wales is one of Australia's oldest and most important public institutions. Collecting actively since 1826, the Library preserves and presents the social, cultural and scientific history of our State and our Nation for the benefit of all. Its rich collections, both physical and digital, alongside partnerships with the public library network across NSW and other vibrant collaborations enable Australians to examine their past and imagine their future. In short, the Library occupies a unique position at the very heart of our civil society.
The Information and Access branch is part of the Library and Information Services division. The branch provides information and reference services onsite in the Governor Marie Bashir Reading Room and the Special Collections area of the Mitchell Library Reading Room and offsite through the website, Ask a Librarian service and via the public library network. Information activities include providing reference services, research guides and learning programs to groups of readers and researchers including family history researchers, secondary and tertiary students, academics, professional researchers, business researchers and independent learners. Collection related services include access to original, rare or special collections, audio-visual resources, newspapers, and associated equipment. The Branch also provides copying and inter-library loan services to other libraries and individuals. The branch works closely with a number of key internal stakeholders across the Library and key external state, national or international stakeholders.
**About the Role**
Within a reader focused team environment, the Team Leader will plan, implement and deliver high quality information and access services and programs to meet the needs of the Library’s onsite and offsite readers. The Team Leader may be required to work rostered evening and weekend shifts and undertakes the role of Officer in Charge as required.
**Knowledge and Experience**
To be successful in this role, you will have the following knowledge and experience:
- Qualifications acceptable for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), or tertiary qualifications and experience deemed by the State Librarian to be equivalent that meets the minimum standard of skill and knowledge inherent in the ALIA standard.
- Significant experience in the direct provision of information and reference services to clients in a major reference library including research consultations and presentation skills.
- Well-developed team leadership and supervisory skills, including the ability to set objectives and manage performance, motivate, develop and coach staff, as well as lead staff through change.

**Talent Pool**
