About the Role
As an Analyst, Retail Risk Oversight in our CRO Suncorp Bank, you will provide independent oversight and challenge across lending products and portfolios, using data analysis and insights from key stakeholders to assess emerging credit risks and trends. The role involves conducting independent oversight reviews of credit risk management, recommending improvements to lending processes, systems, and risk controls, and overseeing the 1LOD implementation of regulatory and legislative changes.

What will your day look like?
**As an Analyst, Retail Risk Oversight, you will**:
Assess and challenge the quality of credit risk management in the lending portfolios, ensuring adherence to risk appetite and identifying potential non-compliance with policies, underwriting standards, or procedures. Provide independent oversight and recommend improvements to processes and lending product designs.
Build strong relationships across teams, collaborating with Credit Risk Policy, Portfolio Quality Review, and business stakeholders to enhance lending practices, identify risks, and share insights on credit policies, underwriting standards, and training.
Proactively oversight the quality of data input, identify credit risk in lending portfolios, and recommend actions to address elevated risk areas, ensuring timely remediation of issues and effective management of credit risk.
Drive a strong performance and risk management culture across teams.
Provide expert advice on lending portfolios, products, and credit risk initiatives, participate in risk committees, and ensure high standards in training, assessment, and lending practices.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
Tertiary qualifications in a finance related discipline coupled with prior experience in a retail lending and/or risk oversight role
Strong understanding of lending parameters, inherent risks across industries, and credit risk principles.
Ability to analyse historical data, identify trends, and uncover emerging risks to inform decision-making.
Demonstrated strong critical thinking and independent judgment to analyse complex issues, identify root causes, and develop innovative solutions. Ability to approach challenges with a strategic mindset, making informed decisions while balancing risk and business objectives.
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
A collaborative mindset, fostering inclusion and valuing diversity, with the ability to work well within teams.
