The Opal Australian Paper Division is the home of Reflex and is a leading employer in the beautiful Latrobe Valley. With over 850 team members on site, the Maryvale Paper Mill is the largest manufacturing plant in the Opal portfolio.
We are offering a challenging opportunity for a motivated Production Superintendent to join the paper manufacturing plant operations team at Maryvale Mill.
Opal is committed to building capability across the Maryvale Mill as part of its succession planning focus. Supported with ongoing training, mentorship and support, this position allows you the opportunity to take a key frontline leadership role as the business heads towards its corporate mission of sustainable growth for the next generation.
**Key Elements of the position include, but are not limited to**:
- Achieving production targets through the execution of the Daily Operating Plan and the optimal use of resources at your disposal.
- Working with your area personnel to cultivate ideas into Small Group Activity projects aimed at reducing costs and improving plant efficiency.
- Setting and maintaining behavioural / work standards.
- Provide a safe work environment for all employees.
- Meeting health, safety and environmental standards.
- Ensuring area personnel have a clear understanding of their roles, the context and purpose of their work, and providing feedback on individual performance.
- Preparing and executing production shut plans in conjunction with maintenance personnel.
- Preparation and execution of production shut plans and involvement with maintenance personnel in the preparation of planned maintenance outages.
- Ensure compliance to all statutory requirements related to people and the performance of production.

- Excellent communication skills - Verbal & written
- Excellent computer software skills
- 3 or more years Operational Leadership experience
- Chemical or Process Engineer Degree is a desirable
- Leadership or Management certificate is a desirable
- Significant or demonstrated experience in the paper industry is desirable
