An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Haematologist to join our **Clinical Haematology department.**

**Details of Department**

Clinical Haematology forms part of the Austin Health Cancer Centre and provides services to inpatients and outpatients. The unit manages a wide range of benign and malignant haematological conditions. Apheresis, allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplantation form part of the service. A consultative service is provided throughout Austin Health. There are close links with Laboratory Haematology and other health services in the region. This position will focus on patients with disorders of haemostasis and thrombosis.

As part of the Austin Health Cancer Centre, Clinical Haematology has a close association with the Olivia Newton John Cancer Research Institute. Austin Health is a member of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC).

**Details of position**
- ** Permanent Part Time Employment 17.5 hours per week**:

- Applicants who would like to accept this position but work less than 17.5 hours per week may be considered provided they are willing to work a minimum of 7.0 hours per week - such a preference should be indicated in the covering letter

**The Clinical Haematologist will be responsible for**
- the comprehensive management of patients with
- haematological malignancies, including but not limited to acute leukaemias and lympoproliferative disorders
- disorders of haemostasis and thrombosis
- other haematologic conditions including but not limited to iron deficiency, immune cytopenias, iron overload, haemoglobinopathies
- participation in themed clinics relating to the above, ncluding post-clinic patient discussion meetings
- participation in ward service including on-call as required
- participation in the appropriate multi disciplinary themed meetings
- participation in unit meetings and activities
- provision oof consultative service to other units as required
- supervision of trainees and junior medical staff
- assisting the director in administrative duties as required, including the development and review of policies and procedures for the provision of services
- participation in the evaluation of the delivery of services and implementing appropriate quality and risk management initiatives
- demonstrating a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, junor medical, nursing and other clinical staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum

**To be successful for this role you must**:(list a number of KSC)
- Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, or equivalent
- Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of haematology
- Demonstrate a commitment to high quality patient care
- Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, junior medical, nursing and other clinical staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum, and
- Demonstrate a commitment to teaching, training and research.
