We have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical trade Fitter or Heavy vehicle plant Mechanic to join our Cornwall Coal operations, based in Fingal, TAS. Working as part of a team, you will safely perform maintenance activities across our underground coal operation at Cornwall and some work may be at our Coal preparation plant in Fingal. This includes preventive and routine maintenance, planned maintenance days and corrective action work as it arises.
**About the role**:
Reporting to the Mechanical Coordinator, as a Mechanical Fitter you will:
- Work within all known site safety and environmental procedures, contributing to a positive safety culture.
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance activities.
- Fault find & diagnose problems.
- Respond to breakdowns in a timely manner.
- Ensure appropriate housekeeping during and on completion of maintenance tasks.
- Supervise small work groups (contractors) as required.
- Complete reports
**About you**:
- Mechanical Fitter trade qualification or equivalent
- Experience working in maintenance roles in heavy industry or mining, including experience with hydraulics
- A strong focus on safety and compliance
- Good problem solving skills
- A resilient self-starter with the ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to manage execution of projects and supervise a small team
- Welding and cutting experience would be well regarded
- Ability to work overtime as required e.g. for major maintenance works
