
Support Worker

**Primary Purpose of Role**
A Support Worker works in a team to provide direct care and support of a high standard for clients of the organization. The worker is required to support and meet the individual needs of people with disabilities by assisting them to achieve their individual goals, promoting choice, independence, abilities, and individual participation/inclusion in the community and in-home settings, and enhancing their quality of life.
The worker is also responsible for ensuring that all reporting and administrative requirements meet service and support standards and are delivered in line with Dreamcare Supports policy and procedures, relevant legislation, and NDIS Practice Standards.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist participants with personal care tasks, such as dressing, grooming, and hygiene routines.
- Support participants in daily activities, including meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks.
- Facilitate community outings and engagement, ensuring participants have opportunities to socialize and participate in recreational activities.
- Foster a respectful and empowering environment for participants, focusing on their preferences and goals.
- Implement individual care plans in collaboration with the Support Coordinator, tailoring assistance to meet participants' specific needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of participant interactions, progress, and any incidents, adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with participants, families, and the support team to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
- Follow all health and safety protocols, ensuring the well-being of participants and colleagues.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance your knowledge of disability support best practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to team meetings to share insights and experiences.
- Continuously uphold the values and mission of Dreamcare Support in all interactions.
**Qualifications**
- An appropriate certificate (minimum certificate III) relevant to the work required to be performed.
- Attained previous experience in the relevant industry to undertake the range of activities required.
**Other Requirements**
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Valid Working with Children Check
- NDIS Workers Screening Check
- Valid driver’s licence
- Fully reliable car with comprehensive insurance
- Rights to work - Passport / Visa proof
- Hand Hygiene Module
- NDIS Modules - Induction, Supporting Safe & Enjoyable Meals and Support Effective Communication
