**Current Positions**

We are currently seeking additional experienced mental health support workers to join established Supported Independent Living (SIL) teams located on Brisbane's south side.

To be considered for this position you will have demonstrated ability to provide in home, community access and assistance with activities of daily living to individuals with intellectual impairment and severe and enduring mental disorders including personality disorders, schizophrenia, and bipolar illnesses.

To be considered for these positions prior experience is essential. Knowledge and proven skills of the recovery framework and trauma informed care would be highly advantageous in a way that maximizes self-determination and self-management of mental health recovery and wellbeing. An undestanding of Active Support alongside Person Centred Care Planning anbd implimentation would be highly desirable across all of our services.

You would be joining an existing team of support workers with the availability of shadow shifts with ongoing support, supervision and role specific training. We have flexible shifts available over 7-days with enhanced weekend and evening rates with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts with the same or other service users.

We aim to utilize the skills mix of the team as far as possible to offer the best possible service to our service users through suitable matching, interests and availability. We are a small, friendly care provider that nurtures positive relationships and pays attention to the finer detail that we feel make a real difference to both our services users, their families, support networks and staff alike.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide person centered 1:1 or 1:2 ratio (SIL) support to service users as identified in the service users treatment, support and NDIS plans, in a way that seeks to maximize independence through capacity building and empowerment to reach identified goals and outcomes.
- Promote dignity and respect with sound knowledge of privacy, confidentiality, risk awareness and duty of care principles.
- Embrace positive and meaningful engagement with a flexible, reliable manner and responsive attitude that is non-discriminatory and non-oppressive.
- Provide direct care and support to the people we support with all activities of daily living in their own homes. This may include domestic duties, personal care, social support, medication assistance, manual handling, transport, meals and attending appointments etc.
- Assist service users connect with their community, facilitate planned activities and outings, accompany to community-based appointments and other resources as appropriate.
- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with all key stakeholders; clients, families, guardians, and involved services.
- Increase self-management, relationship building, skill development and coping skills for service users.
- Update and maintain service user records via in-house recording system incl. administrative duties such as support shifts notes, incident reporting and recording etc.

**Essential Criteria**
- Certificate III or IV in Disability Services or other sector specific training or qualifications.
- Prior experience of delivering psychosocial care and support within the disability sector to individuals living with a mental illness.
- Able to work autonomously and within a team environment in accordance with operational health & safety policy guidelines.
- Effective listening skills & an adaptable communication style.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of managing and promoting positive behavior through the implementation of Positive Behavior Support Plans.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Covid-19 vaccinations. The health, safety and wellbeing of our staff and service users is of the upmost importance. Accordingly, SRS adheres to the recommended health advice and directives.
- Valid Worker Screening Check
- Right to work in Australia.
- Referees from current/former employer/ supervisor.
- Current Australian driver's license with access to a registered and insured vehicle.
