The Role
Based at our Head Office in Fitzroy North, we now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Garment Technician & Quality Assurance to join the team in a full time role.
You will be primarily responsible for the development of garment specifications from sample development to bulk production. You will be focused on achieving on time sign off of all products and be responsible to manage our external suppliers to ensure the expected quality standards are achieved throughout the bulk production process.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Interpreting garment designs and developing garment specifications
- Working in conjunction with the Product Development Team to gain an understanding of the product brief for upcoming ranges
- Creation of accurate specifications and input of all relevant garment construction and fit details to Technical packs
- Coordinate fittings as required
- Flag any ongoing issues/concerns with Suppliers, Test Houses or testing Standards to the QA and Technical Manager for discussion/action
- Ongoing management of all items ensuring consistency of fit, colour and fabric across deliveries/seasons as required with transparent reporting to team leaders
- Management of all timelines associated with On Time garment sign off to meet bulk production schedules
- Assist the Product Development team to develop relevant product information on new styles, construction & quality
- Support and provide information on garment fit, construction and fabrics throughout the season to all team members as required
- Communicate quality standards expected to the supply base, ensuring these are clearly understood and maintained
- Seasonally review all performance issues and store feedback across relevant categories, ensuring there are clear actions agreed to improve on any issues
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Relevant tertiary or related qualifications are preferred with a minimum of 5 to 10 years experience in womenswear product areas
- Experience in creating accurate garment specifications and communicating these to off shore suppliers
- Proven track record in garment construction and pattern making within the womenswear field
- Understanding of garment manufacturing process, and problem solving
- Exceptional communication and service skills
- A detailed and focused approach to work
- Strong organisation skills to meet schedules and timeframes
- Willingness to launch and streamline new and existing procedures and systems
- Ability to think laterally on all issues and take a proactive approach to resolve them
- Strong commercial acumen, results driven, self -managed and able to work and achieve results independently
- A positive and proactive ‘can do’ attitude
- Ability to work Monday - Friday, 38 hours per week
