**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
The Governance team sits within the General Manager’s unit and leads Council's corporate governance and administration functions in a dynamic work environment. This includes preparation of meeting agendas, minute taking at Council/Committee meetings and briefings. Policy and delegation administration, and the administration /support of Citizenship Ceremonies. Council is seeking to appoint 2 full-time permanent Governance Officers as part of this recruitment process.

Reporting to Senior Coordinator Governance & Civic Events, the Governance Officer ensures that a high level of administration support is provided in the planning and delivery of Council and committee meetings. The role provides administrative support and minute taking to committees where required, and also assists in the delivery of Citizenship ceremonies that contribute to positive profile and reputation of Cumberland City Council. This position works closely with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.

The successful applicants will require:

- Relevant business administration qualifications or the equivalent experience in a similar role
- Ability to assist in the timely collation and preparation of Council and Committee meetings in liaison with stakeholders
- Proven organisational and meeting planning skills with meeting legislative deadlines
- Excellent Oral and Written communication skills, with high attention to detail
- High level knowledge and working experience with corporate systems such as MS office, TRIM or TechnologyOne ECM Electronic Document Management Systems
- Knowledge and understanding of meeting procedures
- Superior word processing and keyboard skills, including the ability to work under pressure and take live minutes in Council and Committee meetings
- Experience working within the Local Government sector, including knowledge of protocols and procedures relating to Civic events and functions
- Demonstrated ability to make judgements or recommendations based on advanced analytical or creative thought.

**Position information**: There are two (2) permanent, full-time positions available, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement.

This role is otherwise located at Council's Merrylands Administration Centre. This role is required to work on Wednesday evenings on a rotational basis to support the administration of Council meetings, with paid overtime offered for this work, over and above the advertised salary.

**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 9 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $70,203 to $80,733 per annum, plus 10.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role.
