The Role
Aurecon is a market leading multi-disciplinary organisation specialising in the provision of professional design and management services. We have an energetic and expanding environmental and planning team that helps deliver these services, which includes a contaminated land team. We serve a broad range of companies and organizations, including industrial, commercial and government clients across multiple markets and geographies.
Looking forward, we have a challenging and expanding workload in the Contaminated Land Advisor Team. We have a number of opportunities at a range of experience levels (from mid to senior) providing specialist technical advice on large-scale infrastructure projects including Melbourne Airport Rail, within the energy market, defence, utilities and resources sectors. Many of our projects are multidisciplinary involving working with other environmental, planning, engineering and design specialists across the projects and at various stages of development and delivery.
What will you do?
Depending on your experience, expertise and interests, the key activities in these roles will include:
- Review design related documents to derive a contaminated land related scope of works
- Review progress of site investigation works / provide advice to field teams where required
- Assistance with preparing a range of contaminated land related deliverables (impact assessments, interpretive reports, environmental management plans, spoil reuse options assessments, etc)
- Engage with other project teams and articulate contamination-related scope, findings and any contamination related approvals or project delivery implications.
- Present and articulate contamination related ideas or strategies to our clients
- Where needed, review contractor tenderers in regard to their proposed spoil management approaches
What can you bring to the team?
- A tertiary qualification in environmental science, chemistry, engineering, geology or equivalent
- Experience undertaking environmental site assessments - including both fieldwork and reporting experience
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a large team, and importantly, the ability to work in a diverse multi-disciplinary team, as our works often involve working with planners, environmental managers, environmental disciplines, designers / engineers and project managers.
- Knowledge of Victorian legislation and guidance in relation to the assessment and management of contaminated land on major projects
- Provide sensible / pragmatic advice in a timely manner
- Work independently where required with little oversight
