Al's Cafe

**Al's cafe is a facility providing food and a space for the Allambi teams and clients in the Fraser Parade Charlestown office. The Barista/ Kitchen hand will work with our team of chefs, making coffee, cash register operation and some food preparation.**

**Position Objective**

The Barista/ Kitchen Hand working in Al’s Café will form part of the kitchen team making coffee and assisting in food preparation while maintaining a safe clean environment. The Barista/ Kitchen Hand will serve staff and visitors, whilst also assisting in the service of internal and external functions, in an efficient, professional and approachable manner, whilst always meeting the objectives of Al’s Café and the organisation as a whole.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Maintain the highest standard of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining area by following the established procedures each day
- Comply with sanitation procedures
- Present with common sense, energy and the foresight to see where you will be helpful next
- Set up tables for lunch and training/function days
- Complete tasks required to cater for participants of training and functions
- Ability to work well under pressure, and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a clean working environment
- Communicate dietary requirements of staff, visitors and clients where required
- Accept deliveries and store food and utensils in consultation with Head Chef.
- Work unsupervised and as part of a team
- Complete barista tasks as required
- Serve staff, visitors and clients
- Work with and support work experience clients to develop their skills in food preparation, barista tasks and customer service
- Support and contribute to organisation events, such as fundraising activities completed by clients of the Learning Centre
- Be able to work with young people and teach living skills such as hygiene, food preparation and cooking skills.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft office suite and Outlook.

**Essential Criteria**
- Kitchen and/or café experience
- First Aid Certificate
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team
- Experience in high volume service delivery
- Barista knowledge
- Basic experience in Microsoft Office Applications
- Good communication skills and strong customer service skills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Barista
- Cash register operations skills

**Desirable Criteria**
- Food preperation experience

- Current First Aid Certificate (Provide First Aid; Course Code HLTAID003)
- Drivers License
- Comprehensively insured vehicle
- Proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 or willingness to obtain
