**The Opportunity**

The School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join their research team. This role offers the chance to enhance your research skills by working on specific projects related to blast furnace modelling. In this role your research will focus on the high-temperature experiment of iron ore reduction, biocoke kinetics and slag chemistry.

This position will give you the opportunity to develop your scholarly research and professional activities both nationally and internationally through your contributions to the writing of scientific papers and reports for international journals, your participation in conferences and workshops, supervising HDR students, and your active engagement with industry partners.

This role reports to Prof. Yansong Shen with no direct reports.
- Salary, Level A - $110,059 to $117,718 per annum + 17% superannuation
- Full time
- Fixed-term contract - 12 months with likely extension
- Location: Kensington - Sydney, Australia

**Skills & Experience**
- A PhD in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related area, and/or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments especially high-temperature experiment of iron ore reduction, biocoke kinetics and slag chemistry.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated track record of high-impact publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
