**About the Volunteering Role** - Mary Potter House
To support people living with moderate to advance dementia by assisting the diversional therapist and support workers in delivering one to one or group activities tailored to meet clients’ individual needs. Ensure activities delivered are in line with the Diversional Therapist recommendations. Follow instructions and guidance from Diversional Therapist to ensure best clients outcomes. A volunteer undergoes an initial phone interview for screening followed by a face-to-face interview, criminal and working with children checks and obtains registration with 3Bridges prior to induction. Once induction is completed the volunteer can choose to come for a few hours in the morning or afternoon or come for full day to provide emotional and practical support at the centre. The centre is open Monday - Friday from 10.30am - 2.30pm. The safety of the volunteer is paramount.
**Volunteering Duties**
- Stimulate clients’ engagements in group conversations and activities
- Provide emotional and practical support to a person living with dementia at the Centre. Assist staff with the day to day running of the Centre, e.g., room set up, assist the person with dementia with cognitive games, art, singing, etc.

You will require*
- No formal qualifications required. Flexibility and a non
- judgmental calm approach. Must be functionally fit and active to work in a Centre with 10-15 members.
- Experience in working with vulnerable people, frail aged or people with disability desired but not essential
- Interested in working with people from all walks of life, ages, gender, religion, bio and cultural diversity.
- Compassionate, inclusive and understanding outlook towards vulnerable members of our community
