Bayswater South Bilingual Primary School situated in the suburb of Bayswater, in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne's outer east, is one of the few truly bilingual primary schools in Victoria, with a proud history of over 40 years of delivering a comprehensive curriculum through English and German. In 2017, the school implemented a 50:50 partial immersion model. English, physical education & integrated studies are taught in English, while maths, science, art and music are taught in German. In 2021 BSPS received accreditation as an IB PYP School.

Bayswater South Primary School prides itself on its English/German bilingual program. We strive to provide a comprehensive, conceptual, inquiry based integrated curriculum in a safe, respectful and positive learning environment. A differentiated and personalized approach is implemented, encouraging student voice, leadership and action to meet each student¿s academic, social and emotional need. The schools facilities consist of our Sebald Centre with four classrooms, a students support / Chaplain office, a German language resource area and a fully functioning kitchen. Our Administration building also contains five classrooms. Our senior level building houses four classrooms and the following specialist resource/classrooms: art/craft, library, D.K. Mullins Hall, a meeting room and Sports Coordinator office. Our four portables house our year two classes, music and bilingual playgroup rooms and are situated separately with break out rooms. The spacious grounds on the sloping terraced location feature a large, grassed playing field, junior and senior playgrounds, basketball courts, Amphitheatre, inclusive wooden playground and shaded and passive recreation areas.

BSPS has 2 principal class personnel, 22 teachers and 6 support staff. Visiting support staff members include a school Chaplain and Kids Hope mentors.

Our school has an active parent group and has traditional links with The Deutsche Schule Melbourne, The Tabulam and Templer Homes for the Aged and other community groups. We have an engaged Student Representative Council. We value community action and partnerships in building a welcoming and engaging learning community.

**Selection Criteria**:
**SC1** Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs.

**SC2** Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.

**SC3** Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

**SC4** Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.

**SC5** Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.

**Role**:
The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges
- range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.

As the classroom teacher gains experience his or her contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases. All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rostered teaching duties provided the responsibility is appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training and experience of the teacher.
