**The role**:
Excellent opportunity for an experienced **Fabrication Supervisor** to join our growing team in Garden Island. You will be responsible for providing extensive trade skills in the fabrication in Maritime business for a multi resource team, operating in ship repair. Commercial works and Naval works.
**Responsibilities**:
- Supervising / organising and expected to comprehensively understand work requirements listed
- Supervise/ manage large teams of Boiler makers/ welders and Sheetmetal workers to Weld and construct all types of steel work from drawings, weld procedures, and welding instructions
- Assists in the provision of on-the-job training in conjunction with other supervisors and trainers.
- Complete the necessary paper work to allow workers to work in confined spaces and assist with training requirements
- Comply with all relevant company Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental policies, frameworks and work practices with the intent of preventing or minimising accidental exposures to self, colleagues, visitors and/or the environment. Also provide feedback and information in the composing of JSA’s and Risk Assessments.
- Other related duties as assigned.
**Skills/Experience Required**:
- Extensive experience within ship building/repair industry preferable or alternatively other heavy engineering fields ie, Mining, Marine, Power Stations, Gas Lines or Bridges
- Appropriate trade qualifications in Boilermaking Heavy Fabrication.
- Familiar with marine practices, ship layout and technical interpretation.
- Familiar with welding process’s MMAW, GTAW and GMAW.
- Welding certificate would be advantageous.
- EWP licence and other Workcover / Comcare certificates desirable i.e. basic rigging/dogging ticket, fork lift ticket etc.
- Have the ability to work to and interpret structural drawings..
- Sound knowledge in commercial safety requirements and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
