About the School
Located south of Sunnybank Calamvale Community College is a P-12 College with 2500 students on a single, extensive campus and is complex in structure. There are 66 cultures represented at Calamvale Community College, over half the students are bilingual and many are mastering English language. We have a diverse community and students who require a broad set of pathways to successful careers beyond school. Calamvale Community College is a truly P-12 College with all leadership roles having an interest in both the primary and secondary schools in which International Baccalaureate programs (Prep - Year 6 and Senior) operate in addition to delivering the Australian Curriculum Years 7-10 and the Queensland Senior Curriculum. We brand our students as curious, creative and clever with opportunities for diverse pathways across STEM, Arts, Humanities, Sport and community engagement.
About the Role
As Head of Department - English, you will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
- Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
- Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
