Job Description

As a Hatchery Assistant at Inghams in QLD - McKees Hill, you will play a vital role within the 310 - HATCHERY department. This casual position in the Farm & Hatcheries category offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the operations of our hatchery. Your responsibilities will include:

- Assisting with the general operation of the hatchery
- Monitoring and maintaining optimal environmental conditions for egg incubation
- Carrying out regular checks on equipment and reporting any issues
- Handling and moving eggs and chicks with care and precision
- Contributing to the health and welfare of poultry by following established protocols
- Working collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient hatchery processes
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within the hatchery environment

The main tasks for this role involve:

- Monitoring temperature, humidity, and ventilation systems to support successful incubation
- Ensuring compliance with biosecurity measures to safeguard poultry health
- Participating in training opportunities to enhance your knowledge of hatchery practices
- Adhering to health and safety regulations at all times while carrying out duties in the hatchery
- Reporting any irregularities or concerns promptly to senior staff members for resolution

Desired Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working in a hatchery or similar agricultural environment
- Understanding of animal husbandry practices, particularly in poultry
- Ability to follow strict biosecurity protocols and health & safety regulations
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
- Good physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual handling tasks
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Familiarity with basic maintenance of hatchery equipment and facilities
