What to Expect
- The Commercial Contracts Manager sits within Tesla’s utility-scale project sales and business development team, responsible for supporting pre-contract commercial activities across multiple projects to ensure consistency and standardisation.
As a key member of the Business Development and Sales team, you will be required to wear many hats and adapt to a fast-paced work environment. Prior experience operating within a team of sales professionals is a must, and experience in the energy industry is highly desired.

What You’ll Do
- Provide strategic and tactical direction on commercial-contractual matters, acting as a commercial advisor in the BD team during contract negotiations
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Tesla’s standard contract forms through engagement with the global team.
- Provide support and guidance in the negotiation of multiple large complex project-financed assets through negation of EPC contracts, ensuring commercial terms are reflected in sub-contracts to minimise gap risk
- Provide support and guidance in the commercial negotiations for other contracts including Equipment Supply, Long Term Services, Software as a Service (SaaS) and Off-takes etc, including leading the development of new contracts where necessary
- Identify project commercial, technical and delivery risks, develop effective mitigations and negotiate appropriate risk allocation between the parties
- Proactively manage external and internal stakeholder engagement to achieve timely close-out of contracts
- Preparation and presentation of deal parameters to secure relevant executive approvals
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business or Finance
- At least 6+ years commercial experience in B2B projects the Australian energy sector, with demonstrated knowledge of bankability requirements and contract risk profiles
- Expertise in negotiating EPC and Sales Agreements for energy related products and services
- Excellent communication and influencing skills; experienced in building strong working relationships and comfortable interacting with Senior Management
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and work streams, proven track record of client-facing communication and flexible time-management with changing priorities
- Highly driven, can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and deal with ambiguity based on a “can-do”, solutions-oriented attitude
