**Job Title: Plate Fabricator**
As a Plate Fabricator, you will play a crucial role in the production process by performing a variety of tasks to prepare, fabricate, and finish metal plates. Your duties will encompass the following:
- **Metal Stock Selection**: Choose the appropriate type and size of metal stock based on specific job requirements, ensuring the materials meet quality standards for the production process.
- **Production Flow Management**: Follow the established production workflow within the warehouse, ensuring smooth and efficient processing of materials from start to finish.
- **Crane Operation**: Use a crane to safely lift and move large metal plates onto the conveyor system, assisting in the smooth transition of materials between workstations.
- **Machine Programming**: Program the milling machine to execute the correct operations for plate fabrication, ensuring accuracy in shaping and dimensioning the plates according to specifications.
- **Mill Setup**: Set up the mill machinery for the precise manufacturing of Acroplate, ensuring all parameters are correctly configured to meet production standards.
- **Alloy Preparation and Loading**: Prepare custom alloy mixtures by following precise formulas and load them into the mixing and dosing system to ensure correct composition for the fabrication process.
- **Plate Cleaning**: Clean and finish plates using various techniques such as sandblasting or belt sanding, removing contaminants and preparing the surfaces for further processing.
- **Welding**: Perform welding of mild steel plates to assemble parts that will be fed into the mill for further shaping and refinement.
- **Metal Heating and Shaping**: Heat metal in the mill to specific temperatures and use a combination of hand tools and machine presses to shape and manipulate the material according to design specifications.
- **Control Adjustment**: Set and adjust controls on the machinery to regulate electric current, ensuring proper deposition of coatings and achieving the desired finish on the fabricated plates.
- **Plate Processing**: Carry out additional plate processing tasks such as brushing, cutting, and stripping, ensuring all fabricated plates meet quality and dimensional standards.
- **Plate Stacking**: Organize and stack the finished plates efficiently, ensuring they are stored in a safe manner and are easy to access for further processing or shipment.
- **Production Record Keeping**: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including details such as the type, quantity, and specifications of the products being fabricated. This ensures traceability and consistency in the production process.
- **Forklift Operation**: Operate a forklift to transport materials, tools, and finished plates throughout the warehouse, ensuring safe handling and efficient movement of goods.
- **General Warehouse Duties**: Perform other miscellaneous warehouse tasks as needed, contributing to the smooth operation of the facility and assisting in the overall production process.
**Qualifications required**: Relevant Certificate II/III or equivalent. Work experience can substitute for the qualification.
Pay range: $35 per hour, 57.5 hour working week
Earning potential of up to $104,650 AUD annually. Three positions are available.
Visa sponsorship options may be available for successful applicants, including those based in Australia and overseas.
