**About the opportunity**
The Technical Officer - Paramedicine position is part of the School of Paramedicine in the College of Health and Medicine. The appointee will provide support for staff and students completing practicals and workshops in the School of Paramedicine. The position is a technical member of the broader professional staff team within the College of Health and Medicine and will be required to provide support to Nursing labs and administration as required. This position plays a key role in the delivery of quality learning and teaching to enhance the student experience and graduate outcomes.
This position empowers the technical officer to support quality learning and teaching to enhance the student experience and graduate outcomes. The appointee will draw on time management and technical skills to facilitate the preparation, setup/pack-up of practical classes as well as providing varying levels of administrative support. Teamwork and collegiality will come in to play contributing to the wider professional services team through additional support as required and building strong professional relationships with academics to provide exceptional service to the delivery of learning outcomes.
**What you’ll do**:
- Identify and coordinate material and equipment requirements for laboratory practical classes and prepare laboratories in conjunction with Academic staff needs.
- Provide support and assistance to the demonstrator and students during practical classes when required.
- Ensure efficient operations of the teaching laboratories maintaining equipment as needed and providing high quality user training and support of a range of clinical and simulation equipment.
- Liaise with external agencies and equipment suppliers to maintain and develop knowledge of advances in equipment and technologies.
- Assist in the preparation of student practical manuals and other instructional material.
- Assist in preparation and support of special purpose events including community engagement activities, Open Day and professional development workshops within the College of Health and Medicine.
- In collaboration with Work, Health and Safety staff, adhere to, implement and respond to Work Health and Safety policy, procedure, guidelines and risks to contribute to a safe working environment for staff and students.
**What we’re looking for**:
- Completion of a Bachelors degree, with relevant laboratory experience, or a combination of equivalent qualifications, relevant training, knowledge and/or experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively as a team member, provide responsible innovation in task delivery and effectively manage workload and priorities.
- Highly developed oral, written, negotiation and interpersonal skills, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to think flexibly.
- The ability to take responsibility for initiating, sustaining, completing, and evaluating systems, processes, policies, and procedures to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
- Desirable: Experience providing support to health or lab-based teaching in a university setting and/or knowledge of university operations, policies and procedures or a proven track record of adapting quickly within a complex organisation.
**Salary details**
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 4 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $88,479 comprising base salary within the range of $71,387 to $75,623 plus 17% superannuation.
