Thoroughbreds Assistant

Wyadup Valley Farms is a privately owned racehorse breeding farm located near Lancefield, 70km north of Melbourne. We require an experienced Thoroughbred Assistant to join our team.

The successful applicant must have a high level of thoroughbred knowledge and must be a competent track rider to assist in pre-training and education of young horses.

The role will report to the Thoroughbred Manager and will tasked with but not limited to:

- Track riding and education;
- General stable duties - feeding, rugging, medications etc;
- Caring for mares, foals, weanling and racehorses;
- Handling colts/stallions;
- Assisting vets and farriers.
- Experience in breeding and foaling down is desired but not essential;
- Ability to operate farm machinery an advantage;
- Ability to work unsupervised and as a part of a team;
- Good communication, record keeping and computer skills;
- A strong attention to detail and keen observation skills.
