Our business is growing and so is the OneData team. In this newly defined position, we're looking for a Data Engineering Manager to lead the Data Engineering team for our OneData business unit and provide data engineering support and thought leadership more broadly across OneDigital and strategic projects. This is a hands-on technology leadership role focused on people management and the delivery of operational data engineering solutions.

**In this role, you'll get to**
- Provide data engineering technical and strategic leadership within OneData (i.e. provide thought leadership, technical trouble shooting, best practice Data Engineering, engagement with other engineering and use case squads, project pipelining and project delivery).
- Lead engagement with OneData Leadership and use case squads to map out data driven project requirements, understand strategic initiatives, identify key data assets, and the resulting data engineering requirements.
- Lead the design, development, and optimisation of the backend components of the data platform including data pipelines, and data governance standards, for ongoing OneData initiatives.
- Imbue deep knowledge and best practices in the areas of data and software engineering, datawarehousing, and understand the needs and practices of analytics users such as data scientists, data analysts and BI developers.
- Participate in the development and operation of services that are easy to build and manage, well architected and secure.
- Support delivery of OneData operational KPIs.
- Cost optimisation and Security of OneData data solutions

**To shine on day one, what you need to have**:

- 10+ years of industry experience in data warehousing /engineer systems design and development, preferably in a large corporate environment
- 1+ year experience with agile product management processes - breaking down concepts into epics, users stories and tasks. defining sprints, managing a backlog, planning releases against a long-term platform product roadmap
- Experience in managing hybrid teams including specialist contractors in design/development activities.
- Bring 3+ years of manager experience in technical product management, software development management and/or data engineering domains
- Comfortable with a hands-on role through the full data lifecycle of design, development, delivery and ongoing support. You should be able to read code as well.
- Passion for designing, building and maintaining highly secure, scalable, reliable and cost-effective data solutions.
- Be an excellent written/spoken communicator, with strong interpersonal skills across a diverse group of stakeholders
- Understand how to drive effectiveness in a team of technical experts through a combination of leading, coaching, participating, reviewing.
- Confident people manager able to face into challenging conversations, set clear expectations and hold others accountable while cultivating a healthy team environment

**It's a bonus, but not required, if you have**:

- Tertiary Qualifications or equivalent commercial experience.
- Experience working with Snowflake, DBT, etc.
- A pet that you can introduce to the teams in online team meetings.
