The role we are offering you:
Engineering Governance, Configuration Manager and Design Authority
- Approve all engineering quality gates for Systems Engineering reviews for all Defined and Tailored engineering tasks
- Approve all engineering quality gates for Systems Engineering reviews for all Complex engineering tasks when delegated by the CENG
- Co-chair the Simulator Configuration Control Boards (SCCBs), participate in Simulator Integrated Platform Teams (IPTs) and other internal engineering meetings (Stand-ups, Build Planning etc)
- Tailor the amount of engineering rigor, and applicable quality gates, applied to each task
- Delegate engineering authority via the Skills Management processes to other engineers and responsible to ensure appropriate Engineering Authority has been applied.
- Ensure all design activities are carried out as needed by the stipulated processes & design decisions are taken and documented.
- Grant final approval on engineering analysis and ultimately grant Design Approval for Engineering Changes
- Sign-off of Training Release (when authorized from customers)
- ensure the Technical Integrity of assigned training devices and systems is maintained.
- Direct project teams when inconsistencies are found in engineering or configuration records, or on any matter of configuration management.
- Support audits (Internal, ISO, CMMI, Other) of the EMS relating to assigned training devices with a goal of “nil CARs” and with all PARs to be cleared by the agreed date.
- Support the Simulator Configuration Engineer as they plan and execute configuration changes.

Technical Guidance and Mentoring

Maintenance of the Engineering Management System
- work with the CENG to identify and implement improvement in the EMS and participate in the EMS Community of Practice (Steering Group)

Global Engineering Responsibility
- ensure consistency of Technical Leader’s decisions in function of common baseline vs project across the organization
- arbitrate on technical issues and make decisions on the best way forward.
- foster the technical career track, identify technical leads growth opportunities, help attract,
- Recruit the best talent and develop the talent pipeline.
- represents the organization at the Architecture Board
- enforce consistency within the organization and with the overall reference architecture.
- participate in the vision, strategy and roadmap creation, and prioritization.
- supports innovation and special projects, monitors technology trends, and seeks opportunities and see them to realization.
- participate in the role of Talent Scout or Technical Coach for the Engineering Technical Career Track

Tertiary qualifications and demonstrated professional engineering competencies sufficient to satisfy the requirements for:

- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) membership in Engineers Australia; or
- Registered Professional Engineer of Professionals Australia (RPEng);

A Technical Authority is expected to have:

- relevant experience in the management of a design and CI management system within a QMS
- a broad exposure to establishing or maintaining the engineering design of the simulators in a support environment.
- a demonstrably high level of professional knowledge of the simulators, acquired either through relevant prior experience, and/or formal training courses.
- a high level of understanding of the regulatory environment for the applicable simulators
adequate Systems Engineering (SE) discernment to guide Engineering Team members in complying with the EMS.
- confidence to undertake independent design review and approval.
- maturity and integrity to identify situations that are beyond their competency and capability.
- the ability to mentor other engineers to facilitate learning, development, and knowledge-sharing among the Engineering Teams
