The Compliance function is a Second line of defence (2LOD) function, responsible for reviewing and challenging the activities of the Group’s businesses (also referred to as “the First LOD”) to ensure that they effectively manage as “Risk Owners” the risks inherent in or arising from the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible. The Second LOD consists of 'Risk Stewards' who are independent of the commercial risk-taking activities undertaken by the First LOD. The Compliance function is a Risk Steward for a number of non-financial risks in accordance with HSBC Group’s risk framework.

The Manager, Country Compliance for Australia is responsible for supporting the Head of Regulatory Conduct, the AUH Country Compliance and the business facing Compliance Officers in providing Compliance support and SME advice on matters relating to Regulatory Compliance policies and processes.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Acting as a trusted member of the AUH Country Compliance team for HSBC Bank Australia Ltd (HBAU) and The Hongkong Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited Sydney Branch (HBAP Syd) (collectively AUH), providing SME advice to business facing advisory teams on all matters relating to Regulatory Compliance risks.
- Supporting the Head of Regulatory Conduct in ensuring an appropriate AUH product governance framework is in place to support AUH’s approval of new and material alterations to products and services, to allow AUH to manage risks arising from product governance in a consistent way across all lines of business.
- Acting as the lead AUH Compliance representative to ensure appropriate end to end mapping of all Compliance related regulatory obligations.
- Acting as AUH Compliance’s lead training champion, supporting the Head of Regulatory Conduct and business facing advisory teams to develop (where required), Regulatory Compliance related learning modules, and ensuring that any existing AUH Compliance owned modules are regularly reviewed, complete and up to date. Ensuring that all AUH Compliance training is assigned to the appropriate AUH teams and those teams in the GSC supporting Australia.
- Supporting the senior members of the AUH Country Compliance in the provision of oversight and stewardship for risks falling within the Regulatory Compliance taxonomy, including management of licensing, regulatory change, regulatory reporting, breach reporting etc.
- Support all parts of the Compliance function, including by regular communications and reporting and work in a collaborative way with all stakeholders.

Requirements

**To be successful in this role, you will need**:

- Strong knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment and the regulatory requirements impacting banking and financial services.
- Knowledge and understanding of Compliance within a complex global organisation.
- Broad product knowledge across banking or extensive cross-functional experience within a global bank.
- Excellent business judgement and a willingness to exercise it.
- Professional demeanour and possess considerable presence, impact and gravitas; able to command respect within the organisation and with the regulators.
- A ‘completer-finisher’. Self-starting and results-focused. Proactive, energetic and resilient individual with a ‘can-do’ approach;
