The Indie Project uses music as a creative, engaging tool to explore identity, connection, and independence. With guidance from experienced musicians, The Indie Project groups write lyrics, produce a song, and create a music video showcasing their individual perspectives and talents.
Your role within The Indie Project team will allow you to:
- Use your **youth engagement skills** to support young people with disability or neurodivergence to grow their confidence, connections and independence and/or
- Use your **lived experience of disability or neurodivergence** to provide strengths based and person-centred mentoring for young people
Joining us, you’ll work in a team of dedicated individuals who are focused on ensuring that The Indie Project is accessible, inclusive, and culturally safe for the young people involved.

We are looking for a peer mentor with a desire to make a difference.
**The position**:
- **is part-time - 23 hours across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday**:
- **is located in Ashmore**:
- **requires travel (sometimes independently) to Logan and across the Gold Coast.**
- Qualifications or equivalent experience in peer work, education, disability, community-engaged practice, youth work, community music production or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to use your lived experience (relating to disability, neurodivergence, chronic illness and mental health challenges) in a professional way to encourage and motivate others.
- Experience in one-on-one mentoring and group facilitation skills support group programs for people with diverse abilities and interests.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address barriers to participation and creative and practical approaches to helping participants achieve their goals.
