**Job Description Summary**: The Flight Path Designer is responsible for designing, validating, and maintaining instrument flight paths in accordance with ICAO and/or FAA criteria, to drive customer value through increased airport access, reduced carbon emissions, and increased safety. Must work effectively with airlines, Aviation regulatory bodies, and Air Navigation Service Providers. Accountable to deliver results in a timely manner using established methodologies.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

In this role, you will:

- Perform all aspects of flight path and airspace design, flight validation, and ongoing flight path maintenance in accordance with ICAO or FAA criteria
- Lead initiatives to improve flight path design processes, increase quality, and reduce time to value
- Actively engage with regulators, airlines, and air traffic control to progress project time lines
- Identify opportunities for new business and revenue sources
- Coordinate approvals with regulatory authorities
- Document flight path designs in accordance with internal guidance
- Actively manage flight path design projects to include customer management, project documentation, risk management, issue management, and communications
- Stay abreast of new developments in airspace and flight path design activities from around the world
- Participate in after-hours flight path maintenance
- Advance the science of airspace and flight path design

**Basic Qualifications**:

- Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with a minimum of 8 years' experience.
- Experience working with Aviation regulatory bodies and Air Navigation Service Providers
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.

**Desired Characteristics/Technical Expertise**:

- At least 10 years of experience in flight path and/or airspace design required
- Chief Designer experience highly desired
- Commercial/instrument pilot license highly desired
- Experience auditing and/or participating in audits of a flight path design organization highly desired
- Experience leading projects to a successful conclusion highly desired

**Domain Expertise**:
