At Banyule City Council, we believe that strong families build strong communities. We’re seeking a compassionate and skilled **Early Childhood Parent Educator**to lead and deliver parent education programs that support families in their early parenting journey.
This role is central to our Maternal and Child Health (MCH) service, providing evidence-based strategies, group facilitation, and warm, inclusive support to parents of children from birth to school age. You’ll work alongside MCH Nurses to deliver topic-specific sessions and create safe, engaging spaces for learning and connection.
**What you’ll do**:
You’ll lead, develop and implement the provision of parent education and strategies, in line with current practices and research, to assist parents to effectively parent their children. You’ll be developing and implementing education sessions for parents within the MCH centres in Banyule, and work alongside MCH Nurses in the delivery of topic specific programs within the New Parent Group program as determined by the Department of Health.
You’ll ensure all interactions are warm, positive and friendly and create an environment conclusive to learning, facilitating effective sharing of information regarding parenting of children from birth to school age.
**About you/what you’ll bring**:
- Diploma in Early Childhood Studies or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in working with children aged 0-6 years and their families.
- Experience in conducting Parent Education Groups.
- Be skilled in group dynamics and the ability to maintain effective learning and sharing within the constraints of a group setting.
**Mandatory Pre-employment checks**:
- Functional Capacity Assessment.
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC).
- Working with Children's Check.
- Driver's License.
- CPR/First Aid certificate.
**We offer**:
- Salary of $62,228.74 - $72,066.66 per annum plus super (for comparison at full time this would be $77,785.93 - $90,083.32 per annum plus super).
- A permanent part time role, working 4 days per week (30.4 hours) - days of the week can be discussed but working on a Thursday is required.
