**Role Summary**:
The Remediation Lead role is situated within our Health, Safety and Environment Team. This role is responsible for leading Synergy’s remediation activities, ensuring compliance with legal and corporate objectives. This includes but not limited to managing the implementation of Synergy’s contaminated sites 5-year plan, providing expert advice on contaminated sites assessments and remediation, ensuring that sustainability principals are incorporated into closure plans, and leading the development of Synergy’s long-term waste management strategy.
**Key responsibilities of the role include**:
- Ensure that Synergy meets its obligations under the _Contaminated Sites Act 2003_
- Design and implement contaminated site assessment programs to ensure that these meet Synergy’s corporate objectives
- Lead projects aiming to identify material reuse opportunities for materials generated during coal combustion and demolition.
- Provide technical training, guidance and mentoring on contaminated sites and waste management to Synergy staff and contractors.
- Provide expert support and advice on the reporting of HSE incidents to regulatory agencies where required.
**What you’ll bring**:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental or physical science
- Significant experience (10+ years) in the design and implementation of contaminated sites investigations and remediation works
- Significant experience (10+ years minimum) in consultancy, environmental contracting, or heavy industry.
- Experience developing and leading teams
- Closure planning is desirable
