**Your new company**
City of Gold Coast seek a Scientific Officer to provide chemical and microbiological testing services relating to potable, environmental, water and wastewater analysis to internal and external customers.

This position provides the opportunity to gain skills in scientific analysis and in the procedures essential for the high quality standard of a National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accredited laboratory.

**Your new role**
> Provide scheduled scientific testing and sampling services in a timely manner
> Liaise with internal and external customers
> Work with mínimal supervision of the Senior Scientific Officers
> Supervision and training of junior staff
> Ensure processes and procedures are conducted in accordance with approved procedures and safety guidelines
> Maintenance and calibration of equipment in compliance with National Accreditation guidelines (NATA ISO/IEC 17025)
> Performance of water and waste water analysis in a NATA accredited commercial laboratory in accordance with prescribed Standard Methods, including:

- BOD
- Dissolved Oxygen analysis
- COD by Closed Reflux Colorimetric
- Alkalinity and Acidity by titration
- Turbidity, Colour and UV VIS spectrometry
- Suspended, Volatile Solid analysis
- Total Oil and Grease
- Total Dissolved Solids by Evaporation
- Free and total Chlorine
- pH
- Chlorophyll-a
- E. coli, total coliforms, Enterococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and heterotrophic colony counts
- Data entry, scheduling and reporting using the QLIMS database

> Sample Collection of potable water, waste water and effluent, in accordance with NATA accreditation requirements
