**The Role**
A vacancy exists within the Communication and Media Branch, Skills & Training Strategic Communication team for high performing and experienced communication professional at the EL1 level.

Our team of experienced specialists are accomplished in a range of communication disciplines. Through an established communication account management model, the team partner with business areas to deliver targeted communication - internally and externally.

Reporting to the relevant Director, the department is looking for high performing EL1 Assistant Director in Strategic Communication.
- ** Strategic Communication**:Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of communication strategies to educate and enable Australians to improve their understanding of skills and employment policies and programs.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the APS Executive Level 1 may include:

- Planning and delivering complex strategic communication initiatives for internal business areas/clients, using both in-house and external service providers.
- Collaborating with business areas and providing high quality and timely advice to inform the planning, budget, procurement, development, and delivery of strategic communication initiatives.
- Working with senior executive and across government to translate complex policy into meaningful, simple and accessible communications.
- Monitoring and managing the procurement, reporting, budget, and administration of communication initiatives.
- Leading, managing and developing team members to build their capability while fostering a positive working environment for all staff to thrive.
- Supporting your Director with project and team management, including acting where required.
- Build positive working relationships with internal business areas and stakeholders.

**Qualifications and Education**
A tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or relevant experience in a similar communication role in either the Government or private sector.
