**About the Role**:
An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as an Aboriginal Mental Health Worker within the Northern Mental Health Cultural Healing Team.

As an Aboriginal Mental Health Worker, you will promote the mental health and wellbeing of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities by providing responsive mental health care services, programs and activities which are based on recovery principles, social justice and build Aboriginal knowledge.

Based across NALHN Mental Health Services, the role is responsible for the identification of social and emotional health needs as well as supporting clients to access appropriate services. The role involves working with mainstream services to maximise consumer’s self-management of mental wellbeing and empower Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities with the knowledge to address mental health care issues.

In this role, you will be responsible for the engagement of individuals, communities and groups in strategies that will empower Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander consumers and their families with the aim to prevent ill health. The role is responsible for delivering services by advocating for families who are at risk through provision of support and facilitation of care with a focus on educating and supporting mental health clinicians to provide culturally appropriate care.

Working across multi-disciplinary teams within NALHN Mental Health, you will assist in the ongoing review of practices, procedures and participate in data collection and analysis
