**Job Summary**

Join our dynamic team at our Head Office located in Dee Why, a leading organic grocery group committed to providing quality products and exceptional service. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and drive of a Produce Buyer to oversee our purchasing operations, ensuring we meet the needs of our diverse customer base. The Produce Buyer is responsible for forecasting, negotiating, and purchasing products that align with our company's sales and marketing strategies. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills and a keen understanding of market trends to optimize our product offerings and pricing.

**Core Duties**:

- **Sourcing Organic Produce**:

- Identify and evaluate suppliers of certified organic fruits, vegetables, and other fresh goods.
- Ensure suppliers comply with organic certification standards and sustainable farming practices.
- **Purchasing and Procurement**:

- Negotiate prices, supply contracts, and delivery terms with organic growers and distributors.
- Place orders based on sales trends, customer demand, and seasonal availability.
- **Inventory and Stock Management**:

- Monitor stock levels and manage replenishment to avoid shortages or excess waste.
- Coordinate with store and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery and proper storage.
- **Quality Assurance**:

- Inspect produce for freshness, quality, and compliance with organic standards.
- Reject substandard items and follow up with suppliers regarding quality issues.
- **Market and Trend Analysis**:

- Research market trends, customer preferences, and competitor offerings.
- Make data-driven decisions about which organic produce items to stock.
- **Vendor Relationship Management**:

- Build strong relationships with local organic farmers and cooperatives.
- Support ethical sourcing and fair trade initiatives where possible.
- **Price and Profitability Management**:

- Set retail pricing in collaboration with management, considering cost, margins, and competition.
- Monitor financial performance of the produce category.
- **Compliance and Documentation**:

- Ensure all products meet regulatory requirements for organic certification.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, certifications, and supplier audits.
- **Sustainability and Waste Reduction**:

- Implement practices to reduce food waste and support sustainable logistics.
- Promote eco-friendly packaging and reduce carbon footprint in supply chain activities.
- **Communication and Collaboration**:

- Work with store managers and marketing teams to plan promotions and displays.
- Train staff on product knowledge, seasonality, and organic principles.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- AQF Certificate III including at least 2 years of experience or on the job training
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage and lead a team effectively.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
